Our kittens are born in a quiet prepared bedroom in a spot that the mother has been getting ready for a few weeks. There are five bedrooms that serve as nurseries here. I sleep in the bedroom that has a mom due to have kittens. She has a birthing box with soft bedding ready. The room is kept extra warm. A camera is set up to monitor when I leave the house. When the mother shows signs of impending labor, I stay with her. She often just wants her tummy rubbed. Most of the time she is able to do everything herself and wants me near her. She often needs help keeping the kittens warm. Kittens are wet when they are born and need to be dried off as soon as possible. I enjoy holding the ones that are born and keeping them warm while the mom delivers the rest of the kittens.
